After years of working in humiliation, Yoksul starts to realize his worth thanks to Kerim Bey. His status changes when he cooperates with him, but he begins to corrupt morally in his quest to get richer. The need for money and acceptance in society leads him to a moral decline. By the end of the movie, he becomes rich and starts to be accepted, shedding his nickname of "Yoksul." However, despite his positive monetary change, he undergoes a negative moral transformation and has to imitate the behavior of the upper class.
